Fayette County High School Band /Boosters
Located in northwest Georgia, approximately thirty minutes south of downtown Atlanta, the Fayette County High School Band is the largest and most visible student activity at FCHS. With a school population of approximately 1500 students, the band program consists of three concert bands, the Marching Tigers, a competitive winter guard, a jazz band and several chamber ensembles.
The Fayette County High School Wind Ensemble was formed in 1992 to challenge the top instrumental music students at Fayette County High School. Since its inception, it has experienced remarkable success and continues to perform the finest literature in the repertoire. The Wind Ensemble has earned only Superior ratings at the GMEA District VI Large Group Performance Evaluation.
Invitational performances include the Bands of America (BOA) National Concert Band Festival (1996, 1999, 2006), the Georgia Music Educators Association Annual In-Service Conference (1995, 1999, 2005, 2009), the University of Georgia January High School Festival (1994, 2005, 2010), the University of South Carolina Band Clinic (1995, 2004, 2011), the Atlanta International Band and Orchestra Clinic (1997), and the Southern MENC Convention (1997).
The Marching Tigers recently earned the school’s first “top 5” finish at a Bands of America Regional Championship and has won numerous Grand Championships at local contests. The band also marched in the 2009 and 2005 New Year’s Day Parade in London, England, the 2007 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, and the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games in Australia.
